What is Ceremonial Grade Cacao?

At Cocoa Hub, we believe “ceremonial grade” should mean more than words on a label. We use the term to describe cacao that meets our five standards for farming, sourcing, preparation and purity.
These are Cocoa Hub’s own criteria, helping you understand what we look for in the cacao we offer.
1. Sustainable Farming
Good cacao starts with care for the land. We look for sustainable farming practices that support the long-term health of the growing environment and the livelihoods of the people who cultivate it.
2. Grown Without Pesticides
We require cacao grown without the use of pesticides. This commitment is part of our approach to sourcing and reflects the importance we place on how our cacao is cultivated.
3. Traceable Farms
Origin matters. Our cacao must be traceable to the farms that grow it, connecting the finished product to its source and the people behind each harvest.
4. Carefully Refined
Care continues beyond the farm. Our cacao is carefully refined to create a smooth texture while preserving its distinctive flavour and character, making it enjoyable to prepare and drink.
5. 100% Pure Cacao
We believe the cacao should speak for itself. Our ceremonial grade cacao contains 100% cacao, with no added sugar, sweeteners, flavourings or other ingredients. Its naturally occurring cocoa butter remains part of the cacao.
Cacao with Care, from Farm to Cup
Together, these five standards define what ceremonial grade means to Cocoa Hub: pure cacao, thoughtfully sourced and carefully prepared. Whether you enjoy it as part of a personal ritual or simply take a quiet moment over a warm cup, you can understand the values behind your cacao.
